Getting the Most Out of Your Google Business Profile as an Insurance Agent

By Nick Berry

When someone searches your name or your agency’s name, your Google Business Profile is often the first result they see, before your website and before your social profiles. It’s worth a few minutes to get right.

The basics worth double-checking

  • Your name and title are current. If you’ve changed agencies or added a designation, update it here first; it’s usually the most visible place your title appears.
  • Your phone number and hours are accurate. A wrong number here costs you leads silently: nobody tells you it happened, they just call the wrong place and give up.
  • Your category matches what you actually sell. “Insurance agency” is broad; if you specialize, Google’s more specific categories can help you show up for the right searches.

Most agents point the website field at their agency’s homepage. That’s fine if your agency’s homepage is built to convert a cold visitor, but for most agents it isn’t; it’s built to explain the agency, not to get someone to a quote quickly.

A stronger option is to point that link at your AgencyCard: a page built around exactly what someone searching your name is likely trying to do, whether that’s requesting a quote, connecting their current insurance, or just finding a fast way to get in touch.

Reviews

Reviews on your Google Business Profile carry real weight, and asking for them in the moment (right after a good interaction, a resolved claim, or a renewal) works far better than a generic request months later. A dedicated “Leave a Review” link you can text or email in that moment removes the friction between a happy client and an actual review.
