AgencyCard

The Insurance Agent's Guide to a Better Email Signature

By Nick Berry

You probably send more emails in a week than you post on social media in a month. Every one of them ends with a signature, and most agents waste that space on a name, a phone number, and a logo that nobody clicks.

Here’s the problem: a phone number in a signature asks someone to stop what they’re doing and place a call. Most people reading a quote follow-up or a renewal reminder aren’t ready to do that. They want an easy next step they can take without leaving their inbox.

What actually belongs in an insurance agent’s signature

Keep the basics: your name, your title, your agency. After that, the highest-value thing you can add is a single link that gives the reader a choice, not a demand. That’s the difference between “Call me at 555-0123” and a link that lets someone start a quote, connect their current insurance, or leave a review depending on where they actually are in the relationship.

A good signature answers three questions in under three seconds:

  • Who is this from?
  • What insurance do they handle?
  • What’s the easiest way to take the next step?

Some agents try to cram a website link, a Calendly link, a review link, and a phone number into their signature. It looks busy, and busy signatures get ignored. A single link that leads to a page built around what the recipient actually needs (a quote, a way to connect their current policy, a review request) converts better than a wall of options, because the decision happens on the page, not in the signature.

That’s the whole idea behind an AgencyCard: one link that goes in your signature, your bio, your business card, and your texts, and adapts to whatever the person on the other end is trying to do.

Setting it up

  1. Build your AgencyCard with the actions your clients use most: a quote link, a way to connect existing insurance, and a review link are a strong starting set.
  2. Copy your AgencyCard link into your email client’s signature settings, right under your name and title.
  3. Leave the phone number in, but let the link carry the weight. Someone who wants to talk will still call. Everyone else gets an easy way to act without picking up the phone.
